BRITESPACE: Project Objectives

The starting point for the realization and testing of the complete IPDA LIDAR system in BRITESPACE is the design and fabrication of the laser source in the LIDAR transmitter. This is organized in Laser Chip, Laser Module and Laser Transmitter levels of design, fabrication and testing.

The Laser Transmitter performances will be verified and tested, in order to satisfy the required target specifications and, finally, the Laser Transmitter will be integrated in a complete Random Modulated CW DIAL System for testing on the ground.

The main objectives of BRITESPACE Project can be resumed as follows:

  • Laser Chip Design, Fabrication and Testing
  • Integration of Laser Chips into Space compatible Laser Module
  • Implementation of Frequency Stabilization Unit and Control Electronics Module in the Laser Transmitter
  • Laser Transmitter Performance Verification
  • Integration of the Laser Transmitter into the complete Random Modulated CW DIAL System
  • Test on the ground

This project has received funding from the European Union
Seventh Framework Programme under grant agreement n° 313200.
