The German Aerospace Centre (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt, DLR) is the national research establishment for research activities in aeronautics, astronautics, energy technology, and traffic, as well as the national space agency. DLR operates 30 institutes, test and operational facilities, with the majority located at eight research centres with a total number of about 5000 employees and an annual turnover of about 450 million Euro. DLR’s research activities serve scientific, economical and social purposes. DLR intends to participate with the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, IPA which is located in Oberpfaffenhofe.

 

Role in BRITESPACE

 

  • Contribution to the definition of the transmitter specifications for a space-borne greenhouse gas DIAL in the near IR and to the establishment the verification and validation plan for the transmitter sub-systems
  • Execute of transmitter tests on sub-system level, preparation of validation site, execution of validation measurements using the DLR CHARM-F system
  • Analysis of the validation measurements with the CHARM-F system: Contribution to assessment of results and implication for future space-borne transmitter system.
